What to expect at the venue

Venue and arrival expectations

What happens from the moment you arrive at a BlindSpot evening until the final round.

What actually happens at a BlindSpot evening, from the moment you arrive to the final round. The app handles who you meet, where to sit, and how long to talk, so you can keep your attention on the conversation.

Arriving at the venue

Read the event page end to end before you arrive. It holds the venue name, address, entrance notes, time zone, check-in window, accessibility information, and price. Save the address and allow extra time for transit, parking, or a quiet reset before the first round.

Event times are shown with the event's local time zone. Follow the time on the event page rather than a calendar entry that may have lost its offset, especially when traveling or during daylight-saving transitions.

When you reach the venue, check in through the app during the stated window. The app confirms your arrival and joins you to the live round state. Check-in alone does not start the clock — the evening begins only after readiness checks pass and an operator issues the start command.

What the room looks like

The evening takes place at a public venue with normal foot traffic — a bar, restaurant, or similar space. Seating is open: there are no numbered tables. Your phone shows one instruction at a time — who you're meeting this round, their first name, and a few words they chose to help you find them, like "green jacket, near the window." If you can't find each other, tap "Can't find" and your date will see you're looking. Between rounds, the app shows your next conversation partner.

There is no BlindSpot staff in the room. A remote support team is available through the app if you need help, but the evening is designed to run without a host in the room.

The format may include breaks, accessibility adjustments, or a different number of rounds depending on the event. The published event details take precedence over general guidance.

During each conversation

Each round gives you a focused conversation with a clear transition. Use the prompt if it helps, skip it if the conversation has its own direction, and respect a request to pause or end. You do not need to establish a future in a few minutes; you only need enough to decide whether you would welcome another conversation.

Keep boundaries clear. You can pass on a topic, end a conversation politely, or ask for help. The other participant sees only that the round ended — never your private decision.

After the final round

The decision window is private. You can record whether you would welcome contact from each person you met, and you may revise those decisions while the window remains open. A connection appears only when the applicable mutual-consent rule is met.

If you connected with someone, you can exchange contact details through the app's contact exchange — but only if both people opt in. If you did not connect, no one is told, and your decisions stay private.

A connection that later closes is removed from your active inbox, but the audit trail required for safety and financial integrity is retained.
